Jeff Bowden Must GO!!!
What an pathetic offensive performance last night. And what kind of offensive line play was that? It took one of Chris Rix's typical "pull-it-out-of-his-ass" plays just to get us into the end zone. And so much for finding a dependable kicker.
Overall, a disgusting performance by the offense. Thank God for Mickey Andrews and the defense, or it could have been uglier.

Factoid from the Wall Street Journal
The jobless rate stand at 5.4% today, better than under Clinton in November 1996 and "well below the long-term [US] average."
We've had strong economic growth since President Bush's tax cuts kicked in - 4.8%- far exceeding that of Germany, Japan, Canada, and France for example, over the same period of time.
Personal income has grown over 5% in the last twelve months.
The WSJ makes a case that the government figures are in fact undercounting jobs and growth as our economy changes rapidly in this new service sector-dominated information age.

Going It Alone, huh?
Stupid Liberal Distortion:
George Bush has a “go it alone” foreign policy in Iraq. We have a phony coalition.
Snappy Patriotic Reality:
President Bush built a solid wartime coalition against Saddam Husayn: the UK, Poland, and Australia fought with us. Dozens of Middle East, Asian and European allies allowed US ships, aircraft and support units to operate from their territories against Saddam’s Iraq. In the real world – not John Kerry’s world – this counts as crucial support. We can’t fight effectively in Iraq or Afghanistan without access to foreign bases, airspace, or sometimes cooperative aid arrangements.
Moreover, listening to liberal lies, most Americans don’t know that NATO forces were deployed to protect Turkey and Kuwait during the Iraq war. While these units did not fight with us in Iraq, they helped to protect the bases from which we and our allies launched our operations.
Multinational naval forces also continued to patrol the waters of the Persian Gulf with the US Navy, yet another defensive contribution to the overall Iraq war effort.
If we’re so alone in Iraq, who are all these foreign workers and soldiers being kidnapped and killed by terrorists?
President Bush brought the UN back into Iraq IMMEDIATELY after the war ended in May 2003. The UN re-established a headquarters, but in August 2003 terrorists bombed the building. The UN – which John Kerry relies on so much – turned tail and ran. A UN investigation blamed itself – not the US – for faulty security.
This year, the US asked two special UN teams to establish a presence in Iraq to help establish a transitional government and plan for elections next year. This was accomplished.
President Bush led the way in garnering UN support by successfully passing several UN Security Council Resolutions (UNSCR) on Iraq, including UNSCR 1511 which endorsed the US-led multinational forces currently in Iraq and UNSCR 1441 which authorized the use of force if Saddam did not disarm. Not quite how John Kerry tells it, is it?
There are troops from about 30 countries helping us in Iraq today.
These include the first ever overseas deployment of Japanese combat forces since World War II and the first deployment of South Korean troops bolstering US policy outside of Asia – two major accomplishments by President Bush that will aid us in future multilateral operations.
NATO provides logistics and other support for the Polish multilateral command in Iraq today.
NATO is now providing training for Iraqi forces along with Jordan and the UAE. NATO would have started sooner but the French blocked our efforts for months.
At least 17 countries were part of the former US-led Coalition Provisional Authority in Iraq
Kuwait has been providing free fuel for US forces in the region.
Some 70 nations and international organizations attended the October 2003 donors conference organized by President Bush's team, pledging tens of billions of dollars for Iraqi aid and reconstruction.
LIBERALS CAN'T HELP BUT LIE ABOUT WHAT THIS COUNTRY IS DOING ABROAD, AND WHAT WE'VE ACHIEVED SINCE 9-11. What the liberals really hate is that President Bush has backbone and promised that in the post 9-11 world, as our President, he reserves the RIGHT to preemptively strike enemies who threaten to attack our homeland, our citizens, our vital strategic interests abroad, and our allies (See his West Point speech, June 2002). President Bush believes this is his most solemn duty.
This does not mean we are actually acting alone, as Kerry likes to claim. The facts above are proof. However, if we know another 9-11 is in the offing, President Bush will not wait for the UN to deliberate and decide while our enemies launch their attacks.
The American people have to vote this November. Do we want liberals running our military and intelligence abilities into the ground as they did in the 1990s? Do we want our President to protect us, but only on the say so of the UN and the French, as the liberals prefer? Must we meet a "global test" as John kerry stated? And who defines that test? Russia? France? Cuba?
Or do we reserve the right to act IF NECESSARY to strike first before thousands or perhaps millions of us are killed? Do we want a resolute President; one with backbone, or not?
Stupid Liberal Distortion:
We found no evidence linking Saddam to terrorism – or no links to Al Qaeda.
Snappy Patriotic Reality:
Saddam had numerous high-level contacts with Al Qaeda. Saddam’s agents provided some training for Al Qaeda; for example, in document forgery. Moreover, Saddam and Bin Laden reached an understanding that Al Qaeda would not target Iraq as it had Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Morocco for example, as both had a common enemy in America.
The terrorist Abu Musab al Zarqawi ran a terror training camp in Afghanistan and was linked to Al Qaeda. He fled our forces there and set up his network in Iraq, where Saddam gave him shelter and medical treatment.
This is the same terrorist that has beheaded Americans and killed hundreds – mostly civilians – with car bombs since the war.
Before the Iraq war, Zarqawi plotted and directed the October 2002 assassination of a US diplomat in Jordan from his safe-haven in Saddam’s Iraq.
One wonders why Kerry and his liberal media allies, ignore this pre-war Saddam/Zarqawi-Al Qaeda linkage.
Saddam had an agent with a terrorist group training with poisons – including ricin and cyanide – in northern Iraq. Zarqawi was linked to that group. Saddam’s regime admitted to the UN it tested and manufactured ricin.
In January 2003, seven terrorists making ricin were arrested in London.
In February and March 2003, 10 terrorists apparently planning cyanide attacks were arrested in Italy. Others were arrested in France and Spain.
In late March 2003, President Bush put the terrorist’s poison lab in Iraq out of business by going to war against Saddam.
Iraqi agents attempted to commit terrorist attacks in Europe and Asia during the first Gulf War but fortunately did not succeed. Saddam’s operatives, working from Iraqi embassies, continued to be involved with terrorist groups after the first Gulf War.
Saddam was paying suicide bombers attacking Israel. Americans were killed and wounded in several of those attacks.
Saddam had long supported the Abu Nidal Organization, the deadliest global terrorist group before the rise of Bin Laden’s Al Qaeda. Saddam sheltered ANO’s leader, who had killed Americans, until right before the war.
Saddam waged a campaign of assassination and terror bombings against UN personnel, relief workers, and foreign journalists in northern Iraq during the 1990s. Dozens were killed and wounded. The UN did nothing about it.
Saddam’s agents plotted to assassinate – by a car bomb - former President Bush and Kuwaiti leaders in 1993.

WMDs In Iraq
Stupid Liberal Distortion:
There was no WMD in
Snappy Patriotic Reality:
We did not find the stockpiled weapons that
We did find hidden laboratory equipment, documents, and biological organisms that Saddam could have used to make biological or chemical weapons in a few weeks or months.
We did find new missile programs that Saddam was pursuing, as well as whole factories dedicated to manufacturing banned missile fuels. We destroyed dozens of prohibited missiles, warheads, missile launchers, launch support vehicles, as well as hundreds of pieces of production and testing equipment.
We did find a handful of banned chemical artillery shells just in the last 4 months – and our troops may yet discover more among the millions of tons of ammunition hidden or scattered around
Because President Bush finally removed Saddam from power for 13 years of violating UN sanctions, we have captured many of Saddam’s scientists. They admitted to hiding banned equipment, documents and WMD activities from the UN. Under arrest, they are no longer able to work on weapons in secret.
We found tons of documents related to Saddam’s secret weapons purchases and programs – all of which he hidden from UN inspectors.
We also found evidence that Saddam’s regime destroyed documents and equipment in order to prevent us from discovering the full truth about his WMD programs. Thus, unfortunately, as he had done for 13 years against UN inspections, Saddam may have succeeded in hiding the truth one last time. Unfortunately, rather than holding a brutal dictator responsible, liberals would rather accuse our own President of lying to the world.
http://www.cia.gov/cia/public_affairs/speeches/2003/david_kay_10022003.html
Stupid Liberal Distortion:
Clinton's bilateral engagement with North Korea -giving the dictatorship oil and aid it wanted - stopped its nuclear weapons programs. Because of Bush's policies, North Korea has nuclear weapons.
Snappy Patriotic Reality:
Publicly available US estimates show that the Clinton bilateral approach to North Korea which John Kerry claims he'll use was never 100% verifiable - i.e., all nuclear activity could not be tracked as Kerry asserted.
Such estimates show that North Korea probably had already assembled its first nuclear weapons around the time President Bush first took office. Obviously, that difficult and time consuming effort was on-going by North Korea even as Clinton bragged he had stopped its weapons program.
Why is it liberals are so much more comfortable lying about our own President than expressing outrage that a brutal, dangerous and unstable dictatorship would have lied to America in order to advance its nuclear weapons programs?

PM Allawi says to congress........
that there are three messages for America.
#1 is that Iraq and America are winning the war, and that he is very troubled by the negative coverage he sees by the media in America, it is absolutley not like that over there.
#2 thank you to America.
#3 talks about the atrocities of Saddam Hussein, and that they were not safe. Iraq is better off and world is better off and thank you again.
Surprisingly, this made the evening news.
Not surprisingly, it was tempered by John Kerry informing us it was all lies. Well, I guess he'd know (about lies, that is).
OK, everyone, let's see a show of hands. How many of you think Allawi's speech would be seen as evidence of success in Iraq during a Democratic administration?
How many more anti-American statements do you liberal morons need before you realize what a disaster it would be to elect John Kerry?
Open your eyes, and your ears!!!

The Difference Between Democrats and Republicans
Perhaps those who are unable to understand the basic difference between the two might appreciate this simplistic but all too accurate comparison:
A Republican and a Democrat were walking down the street when they came to a homeless person. The Republican gave the homeless person his business card and told him to come to his office for a job. He then took $20.00 out of his pocket and gave it to the homeless person.
The Democrat was very impressed, and when they came to another homeless person, he decided to help. He walked over to the homeless person and gave him directions to the welfare office. He then reached into the Republican's pocket and took $20.00. He kept $15 for administrative fees and gave the homeless person $5.
Now perhaps you understand the difference.
Physicians vs. Gun Owners
Interesting...
Physicians:
a. The number of physicians in the U.S. is 700,000.
b. Accidental deaths caused by Physicians per year are 120,000.
c. Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171.
(Statistics courtesy of U.S. Dept of Health & Human Services)
Now think about this:
Guns:
a. The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000.
b. The number of accidental gun deaths per year (all age groups) is 1,500.
c. The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is 0.000188.
Statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners. Remember, "Guns don't kill people, doctors do."
FACT: NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN, BUT ALMOST EVERYONE HAS AT LEAST ONE DOCTOR.
Please alert your friends to this alarming threat. We must ban doctors before this gets completely out of hand!!!!!
(Out of concern for the public at large, I have withheld the statistics on lawyers for fear the shock would cause people to panic and seek medical attention.)

Lance Armstrong
CNN is reporting that Lance Armstrong may be stripped of his 6th Tour de France title.
In a random check for banned substances, 3 were found in Armstrong's hotel room.
The 3 substances banned by the French that were found in his hotel room were as follows:
(1) Toothpaste
(2) Deodorant
(3) Soap
The French officials also found several other items which they had never seen before, including a testicle and a backbone...

Are you a Democrat, Republican or Southern Republican?
What with elections coming up, we should all decide.Question:
How do you tell the difference between Democrats, Republicans and Southern Republicans? The answer can be found by posing the following question: You're walking down a deserted street with your wife and two small children. Suddenly, a dangerous looking man with a huge knife comes around the corner, locks eyes with you, screams obscenities, raises the knife, and charges. You are carrying a Glock .40, and you are an expert shot. You have mere seconds before he reaches you and your family. What do you do?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Democrat's Answer:
Well, that's not enough information to answer the question! Does the man look poor or Oppressed? Have I ever done anything to him that would inspire him to attack? Could we run away? What does my wife think? What about the kids? Could I possibly swing the gun like a club and knock the knife out of his hand? What does the law say about this situation? Does the Glock have appropriate safety built into it? Why am I carrying a loaded gun anyway, and what kind of message does this send to society and to my children? Is it possible he'd be happy with just killing me? Does he definitely want to kill me, or would he be content just to wound me? If I were to grab his knees and hold on, could my family get away while he was stabbing me? Should I call 9-1-1? Why is this street so deserted? We need to raise taxes, have a paint and weed day and make this a happier, healthier street that would discourage such behavior. This is all so confusing! I need to debate this with some friends for a few days and try to come to a consensus.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Republican's Answer:
BANG!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Southern Republican's Answer:
BANG!BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! click....(sounds of
reloading). BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! click
Your Humble Blogger Is Back
Good news!! I'm finally back blogging again. I know you've missed me terribly.
I've had a busy month, so that's my excuse. The wife and I have been busy with home improvement projects: putting up a new utility shed, having an inground pool put in, and, most importantly, treating a sick kitty. Our beloved cat, Aja, fractured his hip somehow (he won't tell us what happened), and he had surgery last Wednesday. He's coming along nicely, helped tremendously by my wife, who's spoiling him rotten.
Anyway, I've got plenty of goodies to post, so stop in often.
Ronald Reagan Passes Away
It's a sad day in America, as we've lost a great man: former President Ronald Reagan.
The 40th President, he was often thought of as the face of the new Conservative. To paraphrase Ted Kennedy, in his eulogy to his slain brother Robert in 1968: Ronald Reagan need not be idealized, or enlarged in death beyond what he was in life, to be remembered simply as a good and decent man, who saw wrong and tried to right it, saw suffering and tried to heal it, saw war and tried to stop it. His legacy needs no enlargement: The ending of the Cold War, restoring faith in the United States, re-establishing the United States as the superpower it remains to this day, turning around a moribund economy, and other accomplishments to numerous to mention.
I'd like to offer my condolences to his family. They'll be in my prayers, and I hope they'll be in yours.
Those Mean, Nasty Republican Attack Dogs
It never ceases to amaze me. Liberals attack the President with the vitriol normally reserved for child molesters, and they see nothing wrong with it. And in almost every case, their comments are treated by the mainstream media as the gospel truth.
However, if a Conservative responds to these attacks, they're called "Republican Attack Dogs" or "Mean-Spirited" by liberals and the media, and they fail to see their idiotic double standard. And let's not forget two of the other liberal mantras: "I'm only exercising my First Amendment rights", and "I'm being accused of being unpatriotic by voicing my opposition to the President". It would appear only Liberals have First Amendment rights; an opinion in support of this administration and against the liberal bilge water being thrown out (and up) equals a partisan attack and nothing more.
Case in point: Check out this Editorial from the May 23rd St. Petersburg Times. This typical liberal garbage was spewed forth by Philip Gailey, the paper's Editor of Editorials. The first sentence tells you all you need to know about his liberal bias. (Emphasis added by your humble blog author.)
Partisan War of Words Rages in Washington
It takes courage to speak the truth in Washington these days. Just ask House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi, a critic of President Bush's conduct of the war in Iraq, or Sen. John McCain, an Arizona Republican who refuses to go along with another round of Bush tax cuts. Both were set upon last week by rabid Republican attack dogs who questioned Pelosi's patriotism and insulted McCain's heroic military service to his country.
Armed Forces Day
"The heritage of freedom must be guarded as carefully in peace as it was in war. Faith, not suspicion, must be the key to our relationships. Sacrifice, not selfishness, must be the eternal price of liberty. Vigilance, not appeasement, is the byword of living freedoms." --General Omar N. Bradley, Armed Forced Day, 1950.
Saturday, 15 May, is Armed Forces Day -- that day first set aside in 1949 by President Harry Truman to recognize the unification of the Armed Forces under the Department of Defense and to acknowledge the extraordinary dedication of Americans in uniform standing
ready in harm's way at home and around the world. In the words of President Dwight Eisenhower, "It is fitting and proper that we devote one day each year to paying special tribute to those whose constancy and courage constitute one of the bulwarks guarding the freedom of this nation and the peace of the free world." To all our fellow Patriots in uniform, we offer our heartfelt gratitude for your sacrifice and prayers for your safety.
Where's Black Jack Pershing When We Need Him?
I haven't heard any Iraqi officials apologizing for killing Americans and dragging them through the streets and burning them and then hanging them from bridges.
Who thinks Black Jack Pershing had the right idea? Click on the image for the full-size version.
Forgive Us Father, For We Have Sinned
All I can say to this is Amen. This column was written by Bobby Eberle, President and CEO of GOPUSA, a news, information, and commentary company. I only wish I could express it as well as he.
rr
This past week was the week of apologies. Since the pictures were first aired showing abuse of prisoners at the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq, Arab nations have been expressing outrage, and those in the media have been clamoring for anyone in the Bush administration to wear sack cloth and beg forgiveness. Despite the fact that Middle East experts, time and time again, have gone on radio and television programs and explained that citizens of the Arab states, and especially individuals of radical, Islamic terrorist groups, see these apologies as signs of weakness, the media elite continue to demand apologies whenever situations go awry. These apologies do little to ease feelings in the Middle East and lead to anger back home, especially when the words "I'm sorry" seem drawn out by a forced hand.
Can You Say Hypocrite?
Let me get this straight. Thousands of people in Istanbul today were protesting our treatment of Iraqi prisoners. While it's certainly wrong for our military to mistreat any prisoners, I don't remember any protest marches happening when Saddam was killing hundreds of thousands of his own people. Or when our people were killed and dragged through the streets. Give me a f***ing break!
A Plan for Peace
A plan attributed to Robin Williams (no doubt mistakenly), but a good plan nonetheless.
I see a lot of people yelling for peace but I have not heard of a plan for peace. So, here's one plan:
1.) The US will apologize to the world for our "interference" in their affairs, past and present. You know, Hitler, Mussolini, Tojo, Noriega, Milosevic and the rest of those 'good ole boys'. We will never "interfere" again.
2.) We will withdraw our troops from all over the world, starting with Germany, South Korea and the Philippines. They don't want us there. We would station troops at our borders. No one sneaking through holes in the fence.
3.) All illegal aliens have 90 days to get their affairs together and leave. We'll give them a free trip home. After 90 days the remainder will be gathered up and deported immediately, regardless of who or where they are. France would welcome them.
4.) All future visitors will be thoroughly checked and limited to 90 days unless given a special permit. No one from a terrorist nation would be allowed in. If you don't like it there, change it yourself and don't hide here. Asylum would never be available to anyone. We don't need any more cab drivers or 7-11 cashiers.
5.) No foreign "students" over age 21. The older ones are the bombers. If they don't attend classes, they get a "D" and it's back home baby.
6.) The US will make a strong effort to become self-sufficient energy wise. This will include developing nonpolluting sources of energy but will require a temporary drilling of oil in the Alaskan wilderness. The caribou will have to cope for a while.
7.) Offer Saudi Arabia and other oil producing countries $10 a barrel for their oil. If they don't like it, we go some place else. They can go somewhere else to sell their production. (About a week of the wells filling up the storage sites would be enough.)
8.) If there is a famine or other natural catastrophe in the world, we will not "interfere." They can pray to Allah or whomever, for seeds, rain, cement or whatever they need. Besides most of what we give them is stolen or given to the army. The people who need it most get very little, if anything.
9.) Ship the UN Headquarters to an isolated island some place. We don't need the spies and fair weather friends here. Besides, the building would make a good homeless shelter or lockup for illegal aliens.
10.) All Americans must go to charm and beauty school. That way, no one can call us "Ugly Americans" any longer. The Language we speak is ENGLISH. Learn it or LEAVE.
Now, isn't that a winner of a plan?
The Lighter Side (A Little Mid-Week Humor)
A virile young Italian guy is relaxing at a bar in Rome when he catches the eye of a spectacular young blonde. They talk a while, he invites her back to his apartment, and soon enough they head to his bedroom to make love. After a nice interlude, he smiles and says, “So … you finish?”
She thinks about it for a second, frowns and says, “No.”
Surprised, the guy reaches for her and they go at it again. This time they really throw the blocks to each other, thrashing around and screaming passionately. Afterwards, the young man smiles again and asks, “You finish?”
And again, after a short pause, she returns his smile, cuddles closer and says, “No.”
Stunned, but damned if this woman is going to outlast him, the young man reaches for the woman yet again. Using the last of his strength, he barely manages it, but they climax simultaneously, screaming, bucking, clawing and ripping the bed sheets.
The guy is exhausted. He falls onto his back, gasping for breath. Barely able to turn his head, he looks into her eyes, smiles proudly, and asks again, “You finish?”
Barely able to speak, she whispers in his ear: “No … Norwegian.”
Something to Ponder
Some powerful thoughts to reflect and to ponder over. This Marine really has a handle on our AMERICA.
I sat in a movie theater watching "Schindler's List," and asked myself, "Why didn't the Jews fight back?"
Now I know why.
I sat in a movie theater, watching "Pearl Harbor" and asked myself, "Why weren't we prepared?"
Now I know why.
Civilized people cannot fathom, much less predict, the actions of evil people.
On September 11, dozens of capable airplane passengers allowed themselves to be overpowered by a handful of poorly armed terrorists because they did not comprehend the depth of hatred that motivated their captors.
On September 11, thousands of innocent people were murdered because too many Americans naively reject the reality that some nations are dedicated to the dominance of others. Many political pundits, pacifists and media personnel want us to forget the carnage. They say we must focus on the bravery of the rescuers and ignore the cowardice of the killers. They implore us to understand the motivation of the perpetrators. Major television stations have announced they will assist the healing process by not replaying devastating footage of the planes crashing into the Twin Towers.
I will not be manipulated.
I will not pretend to understand.
I will not forget.
I will not forget the liberal media who abused freedom of the press to kick our country when it was vulnerable and hurting.
I will not forget that CBS anchor Dan Rather preceded President Bush's address to the nation with the snide remark, "No matter how you feel about him, he is still our president."
I will not forget that ABC TV anchor Peter Jennings questioned President Bush's motives for not returning immediately to Washington, DC and commented, "We're all pretty skeptical and cynical about Washington."
And I will not forget that ABC's Mark Halperin warned if reporters weren't informed of every little detail of this war, they aren't "likely nor should they be expected - to show deference."
I will not isolate myself from my fellow Americans by pretending an attack on the USS Cole in Yemen was not an attack on the United States of America.
I will not forget the Clinton administration equipped Islamic terrorists and their supporters with the world's most sophisticated telecommunications equipment and encryption technology, thereby compromising America's ability to trace terrorist radio, cell phone, land lines, faxes and modem communications.
I will not be appeased with pointless, quick retaliatory strikes like those perfected by the previous administration.
I will not be influenced by so called "antiwar demonstrators" who exploit the right of expression to chant anti-American obscenities.
I will not be softened by the wishful thinking of pacifists who chose reassurance over reality.
I will embrace the wise words of Prime Minister Tony Blair who told the Labor Party conference, "They have no moral inhibition on the slaughter of the innocent. If they could have murdered not 7,000 but 70,000, does anyone doubt they would have done so and rejoiced in it?
There is no compromise possible with such people, no meeting of minds, no point of understanding with such terror. Just a choice: defeat it or be defeated by it. And defeat it we must!"
I will force myself to:
- hear the weeping
- feel the helplessness
- imagine the terror
- smell the burning flesh
- experience the loss
- remember the hatred.
I sat in a movie theater, watching "Private Ryan" and asked myself, "Where did they find the courage?"
Now I know.
We have no choice. Living without liberty is not living.
-- Ed Evans, MGySgt., USMC (Ret.)
Not as lean, Not as mean, But still a Marine.
Keep this going until every living American has read it and memorized it so we don't make the same mistake again.
Would Someone tell Hillary to just Shut Up???
In case you missed it: Hillary Clinton has added prisoner abuse to the list of thing that are Bush's fault.
For eight years, her "beloved" husband does next to nothing against terrorism, but 9/11 is Bush's fault.
High gas prices? Bush's fault.
Of course, she spent those same eight years blaming everyone but themselves for their actions (or inactions, as the case may be).
Would someone please tell Hillary to just shut the f**k up??!?!?!?
Should We Give Up?
It's time to re-evaluate our involvement.
Every day there are news reports about more deaths. Every night on TV are photos of death and destruction. Why are we still there?
We occupied this land, which we had to take by force, and it causes us nothing but trouble. Why are we still there?
Their government is unstable, and they have no leadership. Why are we still there?
Many of their people are uncivilized, or at least don't speak English. Why are we still there?
There are more than 1,000 religious sects and almost as many languages and dialects, many of which we don't understand. Why are we still there?
We can't even secure the borders. Why are we still there?
They are billions of dollars in debt and it will cost billions more to rebuild, which we can't afford. Why are we still there?
It is becoming clear.
We must abandon California.
Spain and Terrorists, Pawns and Kings
This is a piece taken from Koinonia House Online, or "K-House", and they are more commonly known. Their Mission Statement: "To create, develop, and distribute materials to stimulate, encourage, and facilitate serious study of the Bible as the inerrant Word of God.
On March 11, 2004, terrorist bombs tore through commuter trains in Madrid, Spain. As of this writing there have been 201 deaths, with 1500 wounded and with 220 still fighting for their lives. Three days after the bombings, Spanish elections were held and the socialists in Spain became the surprise landslide victors after eight years of being on the outs. Many in Europe are calling the election results a travesty for Spain and a victory for the terrorists.
The conservative Popular Party in Spain experienced a sore defeat in Sunday's general election, falling from 183 seats to 148. The Socialists blamed the conservatives for having brought the bombings on Spain by supporting the war in Iraq. They also accused the conservatives of lying and hiding the Al Qaeda connection from the people of Spain (though the investigation of the bombings had just started). In these political attacks, the Socialists swayed the Spanish people in three days and defeated the successful Popular Party - which had maintained a thriving economy in Spain in spite of hard times in Europe.
Prime Minister José María Aznar, who had strongly supported President Bush and the coalition in removing Saddam Hussein from office, will be replaced by Socialist Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero. Zapatero had pledged during his campaign to bring Spain's 1300 troops home, and he reiterated on Monday that if the U.S. did not hand over control of Iraq to the U.N., he would do so by June 30.
Several politicians and intellectuals in Europe are greatly disappointed by Sunday's election results. Spain's foreign minister Ana Palacio said that it was impossible to buy off terrorism, and that even Muslim countries that opposed the war in Iraq - Morocco, Indonesia, Turkey - had been attacked by Al Qaeda. Many believe that the Spanish people did exactly what the terrorists wanted and were played for fools.
"The message to bin Laden would be that bombing, killing pays off," said Friedbert Pfluger, the foreign policy spokesman in the Bundestag of Germany's opposition Christian Democratic Party. "To leave Iraq now, where there is an attempt to build peace, where there is no war now, is so naïve, and it's appeasement at its worst
Television reports in Germany have gone absolutely crazy. They're suggesting this decision serves the Americans right. It's a kind of legitimation of terrorism. Europe must not bow its head before these terrorists."
"Al Qaeda won the election," said a former conservative member of the Spanish Parliament, Pedro Schwartz. "It's easy to say, 'We're neutral now, and let the rest of the people get ready for the bombs.' It's appeasement. The terrorists have gotten away with it. There's no better victory for them than in cowing the enemy."
A French intellectual and political essayist, Andre Glucksmann, pointed out that Aznar's Popular Party had lead in the polls until the attack, in spite of their support for the war. "In three days," he said, "the killers turned public opinion around. How can the murderers not come to the conclusion that they're the ones who decide and that terrorism is stronger than democracy? If the Socialists keep their promise to pull out of Iraq, they will be backing the terrorists' deepest conviction: that crime pays, and the greater the horror, the more effective it is. Afraid of punishing the real responsible party, Spain pointed instead at a virtual responsibility
"
And while Spain's voters have played into the terrorists' hands, Europe wonders, "Who will be the next victim?"
France Raises Terror Alert
Following the train station bombing in Madrid last week and today's finding of a bomb on local rail lines, French officials today raised the National Terror Alert from HIDE to RUN.
This raises the alert level in France to the third highest, just below SURRENDER and COLLABORATE.
French officials could not be located for further comment.
The New Democrat
I was traveling between Phoenix and Chicago the other day, and south of Kansas City a tire blew out. Checking my spare, I found that it too was flat.
My only option was to flag down a passing motorist and get a ride to the next town.
The first vehicle to stop was an old man in a pickup truck. He yelled out the window, "Need a lift?"
"Yes, I sure do," I replied.
"You a Democrat or Republican?" asked the old man.
"Republican," I replied.
"Well, you can just go to Hell," yelled the old man as he sped off.
Another guy stopped, rolled down the window, and asked me the same question. Again, I gave the same answer, "Republican." The driver gave me the finger and drove off.
I thought it over and decided that maybe I should change my strategy since this area seemed to be overly political and there appeared to be few Republicans.
The next car to stop was a red convertible driven by a beautiful blonde.
She smiled seductively and asked if I was Democrat or Republican.
"Democrat!" I shouted.
"Hop in!" replied the blonde.
Driving down the road, I couldn't help but stare at this gorgeous woman in the seat next to me, the wind blowing through her hair, perfect breasts, and a short skirt that continued to ride higher and higher up her thighs.
Finally, I yelled, "Please stop the car."
She immediately slammed on the brakes, and as soon as the car stopped, I jumped out.
"What's the matter?" she asked.
"I can't take it anymore," I replied. "I've only been a Democrat for five minutes, and already I want to screw somebody."
A Brief History of Politics
The division of the human family into its two distinct branches occurred some 10,000 years ago, a few hundred years after the flood.
Humans coexisted as members of small bands of nomadic hunter/gatherers.
In the pivotal event of societal evolution, beer was invented. This epochal innovation was both the foundation of modern civilization and the occasion of the great bifurcation of humanity into its two distinct subgroups:
Liberals and Conservatives.
Once beer was discovered, it required grain, and that was the beginning of agriculture. Neither the glass bottle or aluminum can had yet been invented, so it was necessary to stick pretty close to the brewery. That’s how villages were formed.
Some men spent their days killing animals to barbeque at night while they were drinking beer. This was the beginning of the conservative movement.
Other men who were weaker and less skilled at hunting, learned how to live off conservatives by showing up for the BBQs every night and doing women’s work like sewing, fetching and hair dressing. This was the beginning of the liberal movement. Later, some of the liberals actually became women.
Liberal achievements include the domestication of cats, invention of group therapy and democratic voting to see how to divide the beer and meat that the conservatives provided. Women were not interested in democracy at that time because most of them were still women back then, and the conservatives fed them.
The largest, most powerful land animal on earth symbolizes Conservatives. Liberals are symbolized by the jackass.
Modern Liberals like imported beer (they add lime), but most prefer white wine or foreign water in a bottle. They eat raw fish but like their beef well done. Sushi, tofu, and French food are on liberal menus. Their women have more testosterone than the men.
Liberals like deviant sex and want others to like it too. Their first successful city governments were Sodom and Gomorrah.
Most social workers, personal injury attorneys, journalists, and group therapists are Liberals. Liberals invented the designated hitter rule in baseball because it wasn’t “fair” to make the pitcher also bat.
Conservatives drink domestic beer. They eat red meat, and still provide for their women. Conservatives are big-game hunters, rodeo cowboys, lumberjacks, construction workers, medical doctors, police officers, corporate executives, soldiers, athletes, and generally anyone who works productively outside government. Conservatives who own companies hire other conservatives who want to work for a living.
Liberals do not produce anything. They like to “govern” the producers and decide what is to be done with the production.
Liberals believe Europeans are more enlightened than Americans. That is why most of the liberals just stayed in Europe when conservatives were coming to America.
Conservatives have principles, believe in a Creator, and the rule of law. They practice charity and give to the poor, normally through their churches. When in doubt on an issue, they check both the Bible and the Constitution, which they use as a constant reference in a changing world. They believe in the concept of truth.
Liberals do not have principles, except for their dedication to stealing production of conservatives and undermining principled references such as the Bible and Constitution. They are never in doubt on an issue because they always do whatever is best for them without regard to others. They have no standard of reference. Liberals do not give to charity. They cultivate the poor like a cat cultivates a field of mice. They use the poor as voters and give them a portion of stolen tax money which they vote away from conservatives.
Conservatives believe in self-defense, both at home and abroad.
They own guns and use them to discourage liberals and other common criminals. They provide guns to the armed forces to discourage foreign liberals and other foreign criminals.
Liberals do not believe in conservative self-defense. They disarm conservatives, and then attack them with impunity by liberal armies with guns. King George, Hitler and Stalin were all liberals who abandoned the rule of Law, had no principles except their own self-indulgence, and attempted to tax and govern conservatives.
Liberals believe in BIG government. They think the United Nations is the ultimate answer.
Conservatives believe in the rule of law and when sitting on juries, convict common criminals and acquit fellow conservatives who have been charged by liberals. When serving in the armed forces, they shoot liberals from other countries who want to govern our country. Conservatives know the difference between a common-sense law and a bone-headed statute passed by some liberal from Massachusetts. When sitting on juries, they do not enforce bone-headed statutes, and don’t explain their reasons.
Liberals only believe in whatever laws are appealing to them, such as the privilege of making a living by taxing conservatives. When sitting on juries, liberals convict producers and acquit liberals and other common criminals.
Modern Judges are all liberals as they do not produce anything except chaos, and are paid with confiscated tax money. They consider it against the law to reference any source of law such as the Bible or Constitution. Like other liberals, they just make it up as they go and do what is best for them. Judge Roy Bean is their model.
The American cowboy, of course, is your basic, full-bore Conservative. A hundred years ago, an Englishman visiting Texas was attempting to find the owner of a huge cattle ranch. He rode up to one of the ranch hands, and inquired, “Pardon me, but could you perhaps tell me where I might locate your master?”
To which the cowboy replied, “That sumbitch ain’t been born yet”.
So, what’ll it be? Wine or beer? Domestic or imported?
Enron Scandal
This is an interesting bit of information that you don't hear much about in the media ---
- Enron's chairman did meet with the president and the vice President in
the Oval Office. - Enron gave $420,000 to the president's party over three years.
- It donated $100,000 to the president's inauguration festivities.
- The Enron chairman stayed at the White House 11 times.
- The corporation had access to the administration at its highest levels and
even enlisted the Commerce and State Departments to grease deals for it. - The taxpayer-supported Export-Import Bank subsidized Enron for more than
$600 million in just one transaction.
Scandalous!!
BUT...the president under whom all this happened WASN'T George W. Bush.
SURPRISE......... It was Bill Clinton!
Please pass this on so the whole Country will know. The Media Won't!
Happy New Year, faithful readers.
I wish you all a happy and healthy 2004.
I'm sitting around impatiently waiting for the Orange Bowl, and hoping my beloved Seminoles can reverse their recent trend against the hated Miami Hurricanes.
God, I hate a rematch. Or, to paraphrase Indiana Jones: "Miami, why did it have to be Miami?"
Go Noles,
